Unfortunately, if you’ve been following my story, it has now all come to light. My husband had a physical affair for 7 months, 14 months postpartum, and 1 month before he ever told me there were any marital issues.
I suspected it several times and he lied. For some insane reason, I’d really like to keep our family together. I have done so much work on myself these last 7 months when I thought I was to blame for the marital issues.
I truly want to work this out IF he is willing to put in the hard work (he still is not committed to the marriage).
PLEASE, do not judge and criticize. Do not tell me to leave him or that I shouldn’t be in it for the kid(s). I am looking for support only.
I am looking for success stories in overcoming infidelity. It is very hard to understand if you have not been through it and many people do not know the term, limerence.

@midwestmom0213,
thank you so much. He can’t commit himself to the marriage as the shame and guilt is overpowering but he is already trying to make amends and we are going to work on trust through couples therapy. I am focused on the here and now rather than the future for now …

My parents overcame it. They are still in counseling to this day (years later). I'm really proud of all the hard work that they have put into their marriage.
There are blessings to staying married. It is hard. You will have to pray a lot. But God will give you strength.
I pray that your husband will start to fight and pray for your marriage as well.

@mtlcrb,
as other posters, I felt knowing you’re not alone can also be motivation for you. For my parents, that happened 20 years ago. My mom gave the ultimatum- we seek help or I’m leaving. From there, they became practicing Catholics 🙏🏼 God works in ways we don’t always understand

I'm sorry for what you've been though, but you are one strong woman. I pray you'll be able to heal and you'll both rebuild your marriage.
My parents were on the brink of divorce when I was a teenager. They worked through things and they're still together to this day.
Other than marriage counseling, if you know a priest that could guide you both spiritually too, I think it'll nourish your marriage.
My mom always says, a family that prays together stays together, maybe try to find the time both of you to pray together as well.

I am sorry you are going through this! My husband was cheating while I was just one month pregnant. It was so hard for me. But we kept on going and we have a strong relationship. Let me tell you keep going for your family and kids. At the same time better yourself. If you used to scream and fight stop. Better yourself to the max. I can’t tell you my whole story but my relationship is now more stronger than ever.

@5boysmom,
thank you so much. That must’ve been so hard for you. It’s almost like, why and how do they do this during pregnancy/postpartum but at the same time almost makes sense that they wouldn’t feel their needs being met during that time. I have been working on myself these past 7 months taking full ownership of where I went wrong in the marriage and could’ve been better. Because of that I believe my reaction and emotions right now are much better than they would have ever been had I not worked on myself. Was he committed to making it work between you two or did it take time?

You could pray to st Monica for help:) she’s one of the patrons for difficult marriages! Also look into Blessed Elizabeth Canori Mora who never gave up even tho her husband was abusive and cheated many times. After a long time her husband eventually repented and turned to Christ.

My boss is currently going through this with her husband. She found out that he was having an affair, but they decided to work past it. They got themselves into counseling and took the Love Languages test. They talked about the results and what they needed to feel loved and appreciated by the other. She said it has helped tremendously, and they understand each other better than ever. I wish you the best and pray for your marriage to heal!
